Experience:
Tyna is an educator and an experienced manager with over 30 years experience in government at the federal and state levels. During her employment with the Department of Labor, she pushed to reduce work place accidents at both the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Mine Safety and Health Administration. Notable accomplishments include Tyna’s effort to institutionalize the Special Government Employees (SGE) program at Labor. SGE’s are volunteers within the federal service who accompany inspectors on visits to work sites participating in the Voluntary Protection Program, a public-private partnership program between OSHA and employers.
Tyna holds a bachelors of arts in sociology from Stockton-Culver College in Missouri and a master of arts degree in public policy from the University of Chicago. Additionally, she is a graduate of the Federal Executive Institute’s – Leadership for a Democratic Society program for senior government executives.
