ASysT Sponsors and Presents at the 2011 Systems Dynamics Society Conference

Arlington, VA – The Applied Systems Thinking (ASysT) Institute is currently participating as a sponsor at the 2011 Systems Dynamics Society Conference from Sunday, July 24 – Thursday, July 28 at the Hyatt Regency in Crystal City. As ASysT is committed to advancing the art and science of decision-making thru applied systems thinking, this assembly presents a unique opportunity to further the discipline and learn from its thought leaders.

With over 550 attendees, the 2011 Conference allowed ASysT to supplement its understanding of systems dynamics and share new perspectives on its application. ASysT took an active role in this regard through its exhibit space, and sole sponsorship of the Chapter and Special Interest Group Poster Presentation.

Additionally, Senior Analyst Sibel McGee, PhD, presented a timely paper titled: Mexico’s Cartel Problem: A Systems Thinking Perspective.  Given the intense violence on the U.S. - Mexican border, and the Merida Initiative’s aid to fight Mexican drug cartels, this brief was especially well received by the Conference’s national security professionals.

“With the world becoming more complex and interconnected by the day, the need to understand how systems interact with each other is imperative. Bringing together this type of community will help develop the systems thinking field and ASysT is proud to be a contributor” said Robert Edson, ASysT’s Director and Analytic Services’, Vice President of Enterprise Development. About Analytic Services Inc. and ASysT

Analytic Services is a not-for-profit public service institute dedicated to informing decisions that shape the nation’s future. We provide objective studies and analyses for the national security, homeland security, and other select public policy communities. Capabilities are delivered through our ANSER operating unit, the Applied Systems Thinking (ASysT) Institute, and the Homeland Security Studies and Analysis Institute, a federally funded research and development center, operated on behalf of the Department of Homeland Security.

Established in 2007, ASysT is a collaborative endeavor of Analytic Services. ASysT was created out of a mutually recognized need to apply systems thinking principles to problems of national significance while simultaneously developing an educational enterprise for all levels of leadership, as well as practitioners, throughout the national security, homeland security, intelligence, and broader policy communities.
