Arlington, VA – Analytic Services Inc. recently completed its 15th year as a participant in the Science Engineering Apprentice Program (SEAP). Since joining in 1996, the Corporation has sponsored 46 students over an 8 week summer apprentice program. SEAP, a collaborative endeavor between George Washington University and the Department of Defense, seeks to encourage students to pursue careers in science and engineering.
Teamed with seasoned analysts, scientists and technical managers, SEAP participants are challenged from their first day. SEAP students don’t run copies or get coffee, they work on advanced projects with a far reaching impact. 2011 summer projects included: A Systems Thinking Approach to Remodeling the Architectural Framework of Acquisition Programs from the Department of Homeland Security; Solar Particle Events (SPEs); Army Energy Efficiencies of Forward Operating Bases; and a study of the North African Wheat Crises. This year’s class hailed from Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria, VA and Stone Bridge High School in Ashburn, VA.
Each summer concludes with a high profile closing ceremony offering students the opportunity to provide a summary presentation on their project. In attendance was Analytic Services CEO, Dr. Ruth David who said: “Analytic Services is committed to making a difference to missions vital to our Nation and our involvement in SEAP affords us the opportunity to make a tangible contribution to protecting U.S. technological leadership.”
