Arlington, VA – From April 23 – April 24, Analytic Services and its Homeland Security Studies and Analysis Institute (HSSAI) participated in the annual Critical Infrastructure Symposium hosted by The Infrastructure Security Partnership. The Symposium is a collaborative learning community comprised of students, educators, practitioners, and government officials all engaged in developing the next generation of leadership, technologies, and strategies for critical infrastructure protection and resilience. The theme for the 2012 symposium is "Full Spectrum Resilience," which focuses on integrating all factors of resilience, from policy, engineering, and asset protection to economics, insurance, and security.
“Resilience as it relates to critical infrastructure and emergency preparedness represents a distinct challenge to our Nation. Overcoming it will require a holistic approach and a steadfast dedication to the systems thinking discipline,” said HSSAI Director Phil Anderson, Ph.D.
Over the course of the two-day Symposium, experts from Analytic Services and the HSSAI made five presentations. On Monday, Principal Analyst Casey Church, Ph.D. and HSSAI Distinguished Visiting Fellow David McIntyre, Ph.D. provided presentations within the Perspectives in Resilience session. On Tuesday, HSSaI Senior Associate Analyst Matthew Sinn and Distinguished Analyst Robert Zimmerman, Ph.D., addressed the Case Studies in Resilience breakout, while Senior Analyst Mukta Agrawal presented in the Financial Perspectives on Resilience module.
