ANSER Announces Appointment of New Senior VP and Director of HSSAI

Falls Church, VA (November 30, 2015) 

ANSER is pleased to announce the appointment of Kenneth Rapuano as Senior Vice President and Director of the Homeland Security Studies & Analysis Institute (HSSAI), a federally funded research and development center (FFRDC) operated on behalf of the Department of Homeland Security.  Mr. Rapuano succeeds Dr. Philip Anderson who will become the new Corporate Chief Operating Officer.

Mr. Rapuano brings a wealth of leadership experience in homeland security that includes appointments as Deputy Homeland Security Advisor to President George W. Bush, Deputy Under Secretary for Counter Terrorism at the Department of Energy, National Security Advisor to the Secretary of Energy, and Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Defense, International Security Policy.

Mr. Rapuano joins ANSER from the MITRE Corporation, where he served as the Director of Advanced Systems and Policy for the Homeland Security Center. He was responsible for guiding crosscutting strategic national and homeland security mission initiatives, with particular focus on counterterrorism, intelligence, aviation security, crisis management/decision support, national preparedness, and CWMD.

HSSAI Director Philip Anderson welcomed Mr. Rapuano by saying that “We are fortunate to have such an experienced homeland security practitioner take the helm at HSSAI.” Mr. Rapuano stated that “he looks forward to leading ANSER’s FFRDC and continuing his commitment to public service and protecting the homeland.”
